Cedar Sinai New Grad Residency February 2020 Cohort

Updated:   Published

Hi, I just applied to Cedar Sinai new grad residency program, and they stated a 3.5 nursing GPA was required. Does anyone know what they mean by nursing GPA? Is that science GPA or all nursing classes? Thanks!!

A friend of mine whom works at Cedars told me it was but this process seems different than the previous cohorts so maybe it’s just informational .

It was very vague, so I'm not sure what to expect! Thanks for the info!

I’m sorry ? she heard back so early wow

Specializes in Med Surg, Tele, Geriatrics, home infusion.

Since you guys are new grads I would expect you to get judgement questions rather than experience.

Things like:

Describe a time when you made an error or were criticized, how did you respond?

If a previous boss/ teacher were asked to describe you what do you think they would say?

Or the classic:

Describe your greatest strength and your greatest weakness.

They will likely finish with why do you want to do XYZ type of nursing/ why should we bring you on board?

Tips:

Try to make your answers sincere and have relevant anecdotes ready to back them up. They're not looking for perfect, they're looking for evidence of growth which speaks to your potential. Have a friend or family member "mock interview" you and ask all these questions. You'll sound much more prepared, and be considerably less nervous when you have the actual interview.

Best of luck ?

I highly doubt this is another interview. We've already interviewed with the unit managers, so to have basic questions with HR seems kinda backwards. The October cohort had an offer AND a conference call appt in the same email - it ended up being an info session for those who got offers. My guess is those who got the conference call will get offers? Hopefully soon...

Mine's at 10am too!

Well I’m glad you cleared that up ! Now I’m happy I believe that to be true ?

Based on Feb 2019 cohort, some of them received offers 1/18/2019.

Tomorrow is 1/17, myb some of us will get offers? Just a theory...

did others receive offers later on? or did everyone who did get an offer receive it on the same day?

Yes for the feb cohort - offers came on different days it seems. No for oct - offers came on the same day.

Do you think for those of us who didn't hear anything are still being considered? I didn't get a rejection letter, so I assume yes?

I’m not sure but I’m hoping so. Either way, I wish we’d hear back from them soon. Do you know if others already received rejection letters?

It’s not another interview. I emailed Olivia from HR and she said it’s an informational session. Not sure what that means though because I didn’t get a formal offer or rejection yet ??‍♀️
