Cedar Crest CRNA Fall 2022

Published

Hello everyone!

I figure I will start a thread for the Fall 2022 SRNA cohort at Cedar Crest College. I know the program is super new so there's not much thread about the program. Anyone know much about the program? Good luck everyone!

My friend was accepted to this program last year, but turned it down due to it being VERY expensive and something about having to travel all over the northeast for clinical. Hope you get accepted ?

Hi,

I actually interviewed last Summer and accepted a spot with the Fall 2022 cohort so I can answer any questions you may have!

Congrats on getting in! Was it a virtual interview? How was the interview like? Are they supportive? Are there a lot of clinical questions?

Also, is it a rolling interview? Or do they wait till after the deadline to review everyone application? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks a bunch!! You are not attending this fall?

Thank you! It was an online interview and very casual, they are not there to intimidate you what so ever. The director and assistant director are both incredibly nice and all current students have nothing but amazing things to say about how supported they feel. They wait until after the deadline to review everyone’s application I believe. I’m attending for fall 2022 as of right now but applying to a few other schools for 2022 as well.

Got it! Thank you so much! I'm glad the faculty are nice. Good luck to your other applications!

@picuRN09

Do you know any current students that are in the program? When was the first cohort? I am thinking to apply and attending the virtual open house on March 31st to get more answers.

We did a meet and greet with the current students virtually after the interview. They were in their senior year and were going to be the first graduating class

@picuRN09 When did you apply for the program? I have everything to apply for except I will be taking my CSC in April so hopefully I can get the necessary documents before deadline date.

Have you heard anything about the school? It is new so just wondering if anyone has received more information.

Hey. I attended their info session last month. It was hosted by Dr. Gilligan, the program assistant director. He was very welcoming and friendly. I summarized what he said below:

  • The program began in 2018, graduated their 1st DNP cohort in 2021
  • August 2022 cohort with be the 5th cohort, interview for that cohort will be in Summer
  • Cohort of only 10 (very small)
  • Faculty: student ratio of 1:5
  • 1st sem (fall 2022) is all online, able to work per diem. 2nd sem is all online except Intro to Nurse Anesthesia. Thereafter will be digging into more anesthesia related coursework, so will not be able to work
  • They look for candidates with strong academic record and personality
  • Preferred Level I trauma center experiences
  • Will (should) take courses before starting program (Eg: NAP 701)
  • Typically get 80-90 applicants, 40-50 interviews, 8 spots (2 candidates deferred)
  • NOT rolling basis
  • Still unsure if it's going to in-person or virtual interview this year

That's basically the gist of it.

Hey guys! Has anyone heard from the school in regards to interviews for the 2022 cohort?

Nope. Not yet. Deadline was May 1st. Probably still reviewing.
