hi jomajoma,

best of luck

hi yellowbox, Congrats on getting in. I dont know of anyone who have has gone through the program yet. I have questions like how rigorous the program is, when do you start clinicals, etc....Are you going to go??

Hi. I'm about halfway thru the 2 year accellerated Pleasantville CDP program -- had all my prerequisites going in so started clinicals my first semester. It is very hard. NO question. And they drop you like a bad disease if you get below a 77 in any class. I'd say 10-12 people have flunked out already. The 2 yr prog is much more manageable than the 1-yr prog. Honestly I don't know how anybody gets thru that program. Even the 2 year prog they say is for people who have jobs. What a joke that is. Anybody who has a job has already flunked out or is on the brink of it. Just this summer we took Pharmacology for Nursing, Pathophysiology II and a graduate Ethics class. In a shortened summer schedule. That was for the PART-TIME program. The full time people took more than twice that. They had Maternity/newborn, (with clinical), Peds (with clinical), Med/Surg (with clinical), Patho II and Pharm. IN A SHORTENED SEMESTER. Honestly I don't know how the hell they got thru.

Professors are good -- people who complain just didn't do well and blame the profs which is kinda immature.

Hope this helps.

Hi - I'm now in my final semester at Pace Pleasantville. Yes, it's tough and summer was UGLY. No, you cannot work if you are in the one year program and, frankly, it's not for people who have pressing family commitments (young children, taking care of parents, etc.). If you are at a point where you can focus only on school, and you have good study habits, are well organized, and are accountable for your work (or lack thereof), you can get through the one year program. If not, don't waste your money and consider a 2 year or community college program.

Yes, we lost people along the way. A couple who had small children, several failed or had low GPAs, some dropped down to the 2 year or 4 year program...We had our share of "it's the professor's fault I'm failing..." - not true. We're all adults and if you fail, it's your doing. There are resources, tutors, group study..but if you want to party at night, or go to ball games, or go to the beach instead of prepping for a test..then you're blowing $50K.

So you need to consider your lifestyle and your ability to focus on nothing but school. If you have specific questions, let me know.

I'm sure with help from family a person with small children can be just as successful as you and your "no kids, no responsibilities" cohorts. Personally, I would love the opportunity to do a 1 year class for my BSN. I have a H would would have to be a single dad for the year.. but it would get me through THAT much faster and I can get back to a normal life with my kids and husband and actually have a degree with the potential to contribute a great deal financially to my family.

I don't know why but your post rubbed me the wrong way. People with children are often MORE driven to do well and complete these programs, not less.

I'm glad you've got "what it takes" to pass nursing school. (along with thousands and thousands of others)

Certainly didn't mean to rub you the wrong way. I have children too and a very supportive husband. What I meant, and will stick with, is that you need to make school your top priority and that's tough when you have other family commitments. Sorry if I offended you.

Thank you! I think I'm just being overly sensitive today. I overreacted. I'm sorry!

Hi Sv354

I applied to the Cdp program for spring semester 2011. I got the rejection letter back....I can reapply if i take the MAT and get in the mid 400's.... I was just wondering why do you consider this program to be awful??

Is it do able?

How much is the tuition?

Is it better if I go to another Absn program?

I hear that it disorganized.... I just am so confused right now ... I don't know if I should take that test again because there are no guarantees....

By the way , when i called them the main reason why they didn't accept me was cause of my gre verbal score.

If anyone who is in the program right now can help me... it will be greatly appreciated. =

I'd be glad to help you. I'm in the program now and can definitely help. But I'd rather email you offline -- not in this forum. Can you provide me with your email address? This way I can speak more freely.

Thanks,
