Hello Allnurses!
I'm a newly hired CCU RN and I'm considering the path of becoming a CRNA down the road in my nursing career. I'm aware that most, if not all, NA programs require one to two years critical care experience and I'm wondering if anyone is seeking CRNA education with a background primarily in CCU? Most posters here on Allnurses claim they work in general ICU, so that had me thinking, is CCU too specialized?
I don't plan on leaving the bedside for the next 5-10 years, I'm just curious.

I worked in a catch-all ICU, everything but cardiac. Then went to a major medical center in NYC and worked CCU. Spent equal time in both places before going to CRNA school, but most of my hardcore ICU nurse training and learning was done in the CCU. You will know your cardiac meds thats for damn sure.
