New grad advice for Arrhythmia Stepdown

Specialties CCU

Hi everyone,

I am a new grad rn and I just interviewed at a brand new Arrhythmia Step-down unit. I absolutely loved the unit from the manger to the staff nurses I met I plan to accept should I be offered a spot. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what books or apps I should get to study with to prepare myself.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Congratulations! You are going to love that unit! Arrhythmias are so fun. There are lots of books on arrhythmia interpretation so if you just Google that topic tons of stuff comes up. Good luck in your new job!

Look on YouTube. Everything you need to know about rythms, EKGs, waveforms, etc is all on youtube.

Get a PCCN review book and the Epocrates app (the medication section alone is worth it and I only have the free version!) and listen to the advice of the nurses. More time on the floor=more experience. And learn to center yourself either by breathing or whateve works for you because you'll need to during crazy shifts! haha xo

YouTube is heaven for everything! I watched surgeries all night one night at work, we were so slow! lol xo

Thx for the advice! I got offered the job and start orientation next monday with a nurse who has over 20 years experience as a nurse and has been with the unit since it opened so hopefully with what Maevish suggests and her guidance I'll be in a good spot startin! Thx again!

CONGRATULATIONS! Please keep us updated on your journey!
