CCSF nursing lottery

I believe for first time applicants they take the first 20.

The first 20?!?! there are 500+ people on that list. wow :eek:

They only take 100 to fill both semesters, and the majority of that 100 is repeat applicants. I've read of people applying four years or more and never getting in.

I'm pretty sure there are 80 slots for applicants who reapplied, and 20 slots for new applicants. I may be wrong.

You're exactly right. they accept 80 re-applicants, and 20 first time applicants. That fills both fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters.

Do they only take the top 20 on the list or is it a random 20? I'm in the middle of the list which probably means I didn't make it but I just want to make sure.

They take numbers 1-20 for first time applicants, and 1-80 on the list of repeat applicants.

Lotteries are tough. I went through the lotto process for clinical sites and I was stressed every time.

I personally believe in the multiple school application strategy.

They use a lottery for clinicals too? :eek:

I also believe in the multiple application process, and many programs suggest that as well.

I know this blog hasn't been active for a while but hopefully someone will read this and have a response.

So I was literally just offered a spot into CCSF's fall cohort for this year. Before saying "Yes!" I was supposed to be attending in Spring '11. After my hasty acceptance I now realize my savings plan is out the door and I need to start applying for some private loans. Seeing that I already have a B.S. I don't think financial aid is going to cut it with my living expenses and all.

My question to anyone out there who is or has gone through a similar situation is this.

What banks seem to be providing private loans to already graduated students? I'm with Wells but tried with them last year and it was a bust because of the economy! Anyone know if it's easier to get one of these loans now as opposed to a year ago?

Also, can anyone give any recommendations as far as good places to go to for grants and scholarships, be it online or otherwise? Your advice may save me a lot of headache. Thanks! :nurse:

Have you looked into Stafford Loans? I think those are pretty much available to everyone but I'd look it up first.

Also, what number were you on the Spring '11 list? I'm on there too and was wondering about getting bumped up.

Where were you on the lottery list? Just wondering how you got offered this spot.
