im currently working on the medsurg/oncology unit and i currently applied to ER to try something new.
now, i recently got my ACLS, and im trying to pursue my CCRN certification. my unit is not considered critical, but it is acute which is acceptable according to the AACN.
which review books are the BEST for the CCRN examination? i dont plan on taking the exam for atleast 6+ months so i should be well prepared.

If you are new to the concepts of critical care nursing and are looking for a basic starter point, then you may find this book helpful:
http://www.amazon.com/Critical-Care-Nursing-Certification-Preparation/dp/0071465863/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211060078&sr=8-1
I prefer this book over many others because it is easier to read and presents the "big picture" more readily than some of the more detailed study guides (my opinion). If you have never provided care for critically ill patients and have never worked in a critical care unit, you may find studying for this test to be overwhelming. There are many other products out there that I have found to be useful, but this is the one that I recommend most for a beginner.
One other suggestion you may find helpful when studying is to use the exam blueprint as a guide:

Congratulations on your decision to seek this certification! This one opened many doors for me, and I hope it does the same for you.

Laura Gasparis CD review course! I just started studying for the exam and am finally going to break down and buy them. You can put them in your car and on your ipod and listen to them anytime you want.
