CCHS Acceptance letters, Fall 2011?

Published

Hi, I am wondering if any one has received their acceptance letter from CCHS for Fall 2011, ADN program. Thanks.

I don't think they mailed them out when they said they did. I have been going crazy this week waiting for the letter. Does anyone know if it helps if you have a batchelor's? If I am not accepted I am considering just finishing my degree at UNCC and then appyling again.

I don't think it really matters in you have a bachelor's degree or not. The best way to get into CCHS is to start as a student in the Pre-Nursing or the Pre-Professional program and then apply for a change of major to the ADN program. For example, they are going to accept approximately 45 students for Fall 2011. The first 10-12 of those spots are going to the Pre-Nursing students who are guaranteed admission. Then there are about 35 of us applying for a change of major. My best guess is about 15-20 will meet the requirements and be accepted. That leaves only maybe 15 spots for those applying from outside the college and I heard that there were 200+ applications. It's tough to get in.

Hope that helps!!!!

Thanks that was really helpful. Do you know how many slots they offer for the pre-nursing program? I would be happy to get into that program because from what I understand is that if you make a B or higher in the required courses than you are guaranteed admission for the following semester.

Oh one more question for ama8215,

What is your major now? Before you applied for the ADN program?

Right now, I am in the Pre-Professional program (I was laid off from my job last Fall too late to make the ADN application deadline for Spring 2011). This semester I am taking A&P I, Microbiology, Human Growth and Development, Medical Terminology, and Spanish.

I believe the Pre-Nursing program has about 15 spots each semester. You are guaranteed admission after completing both semesters if you meet the grade requirements. This is a great program if you aren't in any big hurry to get in the ADN program and if you haven't take any or very many of the pre-req classes. If you want to get into the ADN program after only one semester or you already have the majority of the pre-reqs done, then the Pre-Professional is the better way to go. There are a lot of Pre-Nursing students that wish they had done Pre-Professional instead. If their change of major is denied this semester they will have to wait with no classes left to take until Spring 2012.

I wish someone had told me all of this a few months ago so if you have any other questions just let me know!

Thanks you have been more than helpful. I feel so lost when it comes to my options in getting into a program. So can you apply to the pre-professional program at anytime or are there deadlines like their are for the ADN program?

My letter finally came today and it was good news! Hoping good news for the rest of you today : )

So happy you got good news. I received my letter today and I also got in. So excited to get started!:)

That's awesome news, congrats!!!! You will really like it here and so far it looks like we will have a really great group of girls in our class!

I also got my letter today but did not get good news. They did say however that I meet the admission requirments for the Associate in Science Degree. Is it easier to take classes at CCHS and then chnage your major to get into the program? I am so lost at what I need to do.

Sorry that you didn't get good news. If you can take classes here for a semester in the Pre-professional program then you have a much better chance of getting in for Spring 2012. Your application is looked at differently as a change of major. So far all of this semester's change of majors have been accepted. Let me know if you want any more info!

Yes I have a few more questions. I guess the reason that I didn't get in is because my college gpa was not high enough. Let's say I decide to do the pre professional program for the fall and I make all A's in my classes such as anatomy 1 and 2 and microbiology. Does this greatly increase my chances of getting in? Also when can you apply for a change of major?
