I decided to apply for I ccbc because it’s a great program and it’s in the county and I live in the county. I applied to Catonsville !

Awesome! Perhaps I'll see you there, I applied to Catonsville as well. I'm just ready to start, lol because in my mind I'm already in. We got this Shaya!

That’s the spirit , trust me you will be get in . We will find out the end of March.

I worked as an occupational therapy assistant for almost 7 years and got laid off. Been wanting to be a nurse for a long time now, so this was my out. My husband went through the associates (night/weekend) program at essex - my turn now!

How was it working as a OTA?

It wasn't a bad job, but I worked for a relatively reputable company. My saving grace was having great coworkers/rehab director. I started to feel bored, and thought nursing would give me a better option/change of scenery easier than being an OTA would. Plus, with huge medicare changes that happened in October 30% of the therapy workforce was laid off... I knew I would never make more $ than I was making too, which was frustrating.

Ok, I thought about taking that route at one point . But I didn’t bother because it’s not too fun.

Good call on your part!

Yea, nursing is a pretty steady gig with plenty of opportunities to grow without getting a masters per say. But yea, y'all pretty much hit the nail on the head as to why I decided to be a nurse, steady employment anywhere with decent wages.

This website seems to have a pretty good layout on nursing salaries in case y'all were wondering. lool I know its jumping he gun a bit, but its a good way to know what we have to look forward to.

Sorry to be the one always posting, but I dropped by the SHP office today and I was informed that they are wrapping up their decisions. So, it seems like we should be hearing from them sooner rather than later. I spoke with m advisor and she said that the evening and weekend section is most popular. Lastly, they look heavily at the reading portion of your TEAS score.
