Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! I am starting this thread for those admitted to the fall 2020 CCBC RN Program. I’ve been admitted for the Evening Weekend Cohort c/o 2022.

Registration is up for me now, and it should show you the break down for their cost. I was registered for nurn 155 though but im taking 349 at towson so my cost is wrong.

Tonight is orientation for the E/W program. It is via zoom. Do we just watch a 3 hour presentation?

Day time orientation was a live zoom meeting so that you are able to ask questions and interact. They also asked that everyone have their camera on.

Thanks for the heads up. Let me get my meal in now and put on decent attire ?

For Essex students specifically: I know on zoom they mentioned that one lab would be spilt into a Thursday or a Friday lab for our cohort. For that specific lab I have the days as "rf" and if I look at another form of the schedule it shows it 7-1 on both Thursday and Friday.

I have a friend in the program and she said once the course is open in BB we will know if we are Thursday or Friday. I was just wandering if everyone else has "rf" for the Nurs 153 lab?

Just making sure I don't need to email haha

Yeah mine says RF as well

Is everyone from Essex registered?

Not for me yet

I'm not registered yet either...

Hi everyone,

I just graduated from the Essex evening/weekend program and will finish with my BSN at Frostburg in December. Now that orientation is over, get ready for some of the most annoying semesters of your life ?

I'm a single mom that has worked full-time throughout nursing school and I want to let all of you know- CONTENT is not the hard part about nursing school. Do not get caught up in tiny details about how something works and trying to memorize everything. The hard part of nursing school is making sure you stay organized and on top of all of your assignments and requirements (highly recommend getting a planner), and learning to "think like a nurse." Basically, you need to be able to think critically and anticipate interventions and patient needs. SAFETY is huge.

Use your PowerPoints. Take notes on said PowerPoints during lecture. When in Ms. M's class (she teaches a chunk of Funds and Concepts I)- bulleted PowerPoints tended to become SATA (select all that apply) questions. There will be a lot of what seems like "silly busy work," and for the most part, that is true (hence "the most annoying semesters of your life"). I do hope you're able to participate in clinicals for the fall semester, especially if you have no patient care experience. I came into nursing school with zero patient care experience and my clinicals at Oakcrest and Franklin Square really taught me a great deal about the basics. You're also able to have a shadow experience in your first semester where you just follow a nurse around for the day- that was by far one of my favorite clinical experiences.

Good luck- do not stress yourselves out more than necessary- nursing school is entirely doable and not at all impossible.
