Just found out I got in to both a few days ago! I would love to hear about everyone's experiences and info about each program to help make my decision!! I've always heard great things about CCBC....also, could someone explain to me the schedule (I've finished all my pre-req's except Micro..)

Thanks!!

I graduate in two weeks from Harford. I absolutely love it. The professors are great. They really care about you and want you to succeed. I have had the greatest experience there. I would definately recommend Harford. I know that Essex has a great program but I heard the professors are hard to deal with.

I have heard great things about Harford and given the choice would pick that one hands down. CCBC has a good program but the atmosphere is not supportive at all, imo.

Hey Abersmom

Besides what I sent you in PM...here is a little more about CCBC

The passing criteria is 75%. What that means is you have to have a 75% on your tests before anything else is calculated in ( projects, papers, etc). If you do not meet the 75% benchmark you have "failed" the course. If you fail one class you have to take it over. If you fail 2 - you are out ( community/trends do not count into this...at least at catonsville)

Clinicals are pass/fail. There is a long criteria for this..it's called a CET. If you fail clinical you fail the course.

You have to take dosage before every semester...so once you learn it - don't let it slip away. Before fundamentals you get 5 chances to meet the 95% criteria ( no calculators)...after that you get 4 chances ( w/ calculators).

I can't say anything about Essex staff-wise because I am at Catonsville.

GOOD LUCK!

I am currently a student in the nursing program at CCBC Essex. I have learned quite a bit here, but more than anything have learned that if I had to make the choice again, I would go with a different school. The first few semesters were good (with the same devoted teacher who really makes an impact) then they really dropped the ball. Our OB lecturer seems to have been thrown in without any preparation at all. I think that she would do great as a Clinical instructor, but definitely can not seem to teach us the basic information necessary to pass the exams (which are made up by another teacher and are EXTREMELY TRICKY) Luckily I have managed to maintain a passing grade by studying nearly every waking moment on my own (although a far cry from my grades in previous semesters) However from what I have heard at leat half of the class is currently failing. We have gone to our administrators for resolution but so far it doesn't look promising.
