so you just want us to do your homework... is that it? :p what you typed barely makes sense but here's what I think...

sounds to me like alan doesn't get enough fiber, fruits and vegetables. He could have a vitamin deficiency. Considering he goes to the gym often, he may not be getting enough protein. Too much sodium from fast food, cured meats. Does he drink anything besides coffee?

my thoughts were not picking the right food choices from the food pyrimid, also not a continous amount of calories in to be burned during exerise. caffine causing heart arrhythmias fast energy consumption only to run out of energy fast

the food pyramid is no more... it's "my plate" now. google it.

i don't think you can jump to caffeine causing heart arrhythmias from the info above... you're right about fast energy consumption - for example his breakfast is a bagel or a breakfast bar... bagels are refined carbs, converting to sugar rather quickly. breakfast bar is rather ambiguous but i suppose a typical one is like a cereal bar with some fruit jelly stuff in the middle? those are mostly just sugar too. he should definitely try to get a protein for breakfast, or at least switch to whole grain cereal or bread. but if he were my patient, i'd probably address his dinner first and try to help him come up with healthier options than chinese food and pizza.
