I have to do a case study presentation based on one of my patients in clinical. I really have no idea where to start. Has anyone had to do one of these? Any general hints/tips that I can use?

If you go to the Nursing Student Assistance section you mostly like will be able to find some great information that will assists and guide you in the right direction with your case study.

I haven't specifically had to do a "case study presentation", but we would do a case study style briefing during post conference on a daily basis. I would start with the clinical paperwork that you normally have to fill out. Things that I usually have to look up are: current dx, previous medical history (pertinent), pathophysiology, pertinent labs & diagnostic tests, new orders, nursing dx, etc. You could look at case studies that you have done in the past. What kind of information do they provide? What kind of questions do they ask? Basically you are just talking out what is going on with your patients. Then you are deciding what are pertinent nursing interventions, assessments, reasons for diagnostic tests, pathophysiology of the condition etc. Hope this nudges you in the right direction :) Good luck!

Did the faculty really give you no more direction than this? (Such as length of presentation, etc.) There are different ways to go about a case study presentation, so determining the overall scope of the project is the first step in determining what you should do.

Pick a patient. Give the basic Patient info, Age, gender, diagnosis. Give history relevant to their diagnosis. Then do your nursing process, assessment info, nursing diagnosis, planning, interventions and evaluation. Make it all relevant to their current diagnosis.
I have done about 6 of these and this was what hey always were. But a lot of times clinical packets or syllabus will list any specifics it needs to be.
