how much do telephonic rn case managers get paid in CA?

To be more specific, Los Angeles, CA. I am a new grad and just got an interview for a home health agency. They told me to come back for a second interview to discuss my salary. I would like an idea to how much a TCM gets paid hourly in order for me to be able to negotiate fairly. Thanks in advance!

I'm a bit confused here. You say that you are interviewing in a home health agency but you are looking at a telephonic nurse case manager job? I have been a director of two home health agencies, and all of the nurses worked in the field in the patients' homes -- hence the name "home health agency." I am also rather surprised that as a new grad you would feel as if this is the best place to start your nursing career. We had a hard and fast rule that we would require a minimum of 2 years' experience prior to hiring anyone as a home health nurse.

I'm also very surprised that a Home Health agency would hire a new grad. There is no safety net for support out in the field for a new grad. You don't have someone you can access with you for help if you need it. All the home health jobs I have seen require at least 1 year experience or more, as stated by corlackan.

In most cases Telephonic nurses are experienced nurses due to the fact that they must give advice based upon medical protocols in areas that they have a clinical background. A new grad has no clinical background to draw from to provide advice or implement protocols, therefore many employers of Telephonic nurses will not usually consider your application.

Let us know if you were hired and let us know how well you are being supported. BTW, pay is based upon work experience.... Try using the salary websites to get an idea of what nurses make in your area.... $50/hr may or may not be out of the question in So Cal from what I have read.

If it's a home health job, it's not a telephonic case manager position. They're two different areas.

I would be wary of a home health agency who would hire a new grad into a Case Management position. I was a nurse for 5 years before I transitioned to this role.
