Can anyone offer any insight into AHH? I have a preliminary screening call with a recruiter for a work at home CM telecommuter position. I have seen some info on this company here but it is older. Wondering if anyone has some up to date info. I have a friend working for Aetna now and she likes it, but even she isn't sure about this other part of the company.

I was wondering about hours, micro managing computer/phone time, pay, case load #s...I plan on asking a lot of questions in the interview, but would love some background from current or former employees! Thanks in advance.

I had a screening call with an Aetna/AHH recruiter about six weeks ago for the same thing. She said she would pass my file on to the next step and someone would be calling me for an interview. Never heard back from them to set up an interview, although on the website it still says "under review". It's like my file got lost in limbo or something. Interested to hear how this turns out for you. I've since accepted a telecommuting case manager position with Wellpoint.

facts about AHH. They pay much less than the Aetna pay scale. You are salaried and paid based on an 8 hr day...but are required to post 9 hrs of billable time each day and lots of your day is taken up by things you can not bill. So that translates into much more than 8 hours per day. In addition you are required to attend meetings that can run over a hour and are still required to meet the billable quota for the day. If you are not making 100% of billable or above your information is sent to all your peers on a report each week via email. Average CM case load is above 60... Way more than the 40 they will tell you in the interview. The turn over rate at AHH is very high. Expect to work lots of nights and weekends for this company with no positive feedback or support from management.

So I took the job at AHH and have been pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. Huge learning curve for me, but nowhere near the stress of hospital case management. I'm on the CM side, my caseload is about 60. My patients are at different acuities, so not every case needs to have things done every month. I've found my supervisor to be extremely responsive which has helped me because working from home can be very isolating.I actually feel more like a "real nurse" now because I can actually provide patient teaching and have time to talk to the patient s. As a hospital CM, I always felt like a crisis manager. Getting the billing hours in has not been an issue. The pay for me was the same as what I made in the hospital, but no weekends, nights or holidays. This was the 1st year that I ever had 4 days off at Thanksgiving.The best part for me has been less stress. My best friend works on the Aetna side and she likes her job too. We are both CM but some things are the same for us and others are different. I am very busy throughout the day, so the day goes by quickly. I don't dread Mondays like I used to.

I am curious because I have a phone interview today. What are the differences that you noticed between you and your best friends positions? Are you still working there and happy?

I left earlier this year mostly because I wasn't as busy. There was a push to lower caseloads and I found it hard to get my billing. I really liked the company and my supervisor was great. Good luck!

What does it mean it was hard to get your billing? Wouldn't a lower caseload be a good thing? Sorry I've never actually worked case management before so I'm still learning what it all entails. Were you by any chance in the Phoenix area? I was going to PM you but it says I am unable to until I have 15 topics...

I am going to have to decide soon if I get offered this job and/or another case management position with a hospice company so I'm trying to learn all I can. I also interviewed for a hospice admissions position.

Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

At AHH we were required to bill 45 hours of billing a week. It sounds like a lot but if your caseload is busy the billing comes naturally. You bill for things like reports, entering clinical information, and talking to patients, doctors or facilities in the phone.

I have an interview with a major Ins company tomorrow. Can anyone give me some examples of common interview questions besides the basics? Any info would be helpful. Thank you!
