Carrington College Reno,NV Entrance Exam

U.S.A. Nevada

I am taking the entrance exam next month and it sucks because the entrance exam is no longer the HESI test for reading, math and vocab. It is a kaplan test for reading, writing and math now and there is no study guide like the HESI did. Does anyone have suggestions to what I can study off of?

I scored a 96 in math, a 95 in reading, and an 81 in writing. The writing was really difficult for me even though I usually do well in that subject.

im taking the test saturday and im FREAKING out! been reviewing every kind of math i can get my hands on... i hope it pays off!!

speaking of math, what did you encounter on the test?? ive been reviewing my fractions and simple conversions, as well as the practice tests included in the kaplan nursing entrance exam book.

I just had my interview at the beginning of the week. As far as the test goes, I found the kaplan study guide to be appropriate study material. The math part was the easiest as it was pretty basic and you can always work backwards with multiple choice questions. The reading comprehension was difficult in that I really had to focus on making sure I knew what exactly the question is asking. Pay attention to key words. The writing portion was full of questions asking about correct usage of verbs, and which word was used improperly. Overall the test is 71 questions so it is easy to make errors and not be satisfied with your overall score. I scored in the 80's and I'm hoping that it will be enough to get me in.

thanks! i feel pretty confident on my math skills and have been taking some reading comp quizzes online to keep my mind sharp. test is tomorrow... ive read that anything above a 60 is considered pretty good!

thanks for the feedback , goodluck to everyone !

I've seen the same with most averages around like a 73. From what I've seen scores for the Kaplan are usually lower than the Hesi. I'm still trying to decide whether ot not to retake the Kaplan.

I had an interview too! I had a second financial aid meeting today. Im hoping that getting the interview is a good sign! I scored in the 90s in math and reading, 80s for writing. Writing was really difficult.

Anyone else have results on the Kaplan for Carrington Reno. The test was alot more difficult than I anticipated. I heard today that so far only 50% of the those who have tested thus far have "passed". The Hesi was much easier to gage how you did, knowing mid to high 90's gave you a pretty solid chance at acceptance. From what I can find the national avg is 60.8%. I'm not feeling very confident. Just curious what other people scored. My avg was 79% which I was shocked to find was "passing" score. Any feedback is helpful. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Do you mind me asking who you heard the 50% from? It's so exhausting to sit around and wait for any little bit of information, that statistic made me feel a little better about my score! Haha

The advisor at Carrington told me 50% thus far have failed. I got the national average from google! LOL I've been obsessing over it because I feel like I know nothing. The whole admissions process is frustrating. I have a B.S. in Health and a Master's in Healthcare Administration which means nothing to my admittance. I've never been a very good test taker, I did my best and hopfully it was enough. Happy waiting everyone, and best of luck!
