caregiver looking for work- advice??

Published

Hi everyone!

I am looking for a job in the metro detroit area! anyone know of any hospitals/facilities that are hiring?

I am NOT CNA certified. I am trying to avoid getting certified at this point because I hope to attend nursing school in the fall of 2010 and heard that after your first semester of nursing school you are elligible for nurse extern jobs. Therefore, I feel like it would be a waste of money to do so now.

Still, I want a job working in healthcare....any suggestions????

Hi, how about doing some type of home health aide? If you look on careerbuilder.com, monster.com, or go onto Michigan Works talent bank there are always job openings for different forms of homecare. A lot of the positions are taking elderly or disabled to their dr's appointments and shopping etc. I think you need a vehicle, and current insurance and possibly CPR but they may provide the training for that.

You can place your own ad in the paper to do home care or you can respond to ads for home care, but be prepared to be offered less money because you lack a CNA or HHA certificate.
