How many careers did you have before becoming a nurse?
What careers were they and what drew you to nursing?
I graduated with a BA in Asian Studies and moved to Japan for a year to teach English.
When I moved back home a connection got me a temp job at an art auction house. I did that for 6 months and enjoyed it, but it wasn't going to turn into a permanent gig so I got my real estate license. After less than a year of that I knew it wasn't for me and decided to apply to nursing school. I was 28 when I got my BSN.
Initially I tried for nursing school 11 years ago, when I became pregnant with my first baby. As a result, my instructor, at the time, advised me to drop A&P 1, since we were going to dissect a cat and the preservatives the cat was in was supposed to be harmful to the fetus. I, than changed my major to business and administration and later got my bachelor's degree in accounting and taxation. Have been an accountant for 8 years, in 2 different CPA firms. Finally decided this past tax season was going to be my last one. Completed my pre reqs over the summer, took my entrance exam at the end of September, and got accepted and starting the Nursing Program in January. Things have been happening rather fast and as planned. Praying for a great experience with my first semester and thereafter!
