Career change

Hi everybody!

I am currently a charge nurse on a neuro-tele floor. Since giving birth to my daughter I have been searching for a day shift job. I don't want to stay on the floor and I am having difficulty changing to a different position. I have tried home health but I didn't like the inconsistency of hours and not having a set schedule. I have applied to multiple managed care and insurance companies but have not received a call for an interview. Another issue is pay. I have been offered a few jobs but i need something comparable to my salary now. If anyone has any advice please let me know. I like being clinical but I am also good at auditing charts and enjoy doing paperwork. I live in south Florida.

Thanks!!

I'm a school nurse and I love it! The schedule is awesome for someone with younger children. The pay, however, is not great. My state pays school nurses decently, but even then, it is a huge paycut from the hospital. Some school nurses work PRN at a hospital a weekend or two a month and during the summer to help supplement income. It is great if you like assessments and enjoy paperwork :).
