Hello All, I'm so glad I found this sight...I decided after much soul searching and many headaches and layoffs, that it was finally time to take a leap of faith and go for my dream and become a nurse..I put it off for so long. I had a good job working for the phone company making a good living however, it was job.. I have children and a husband. Not to mention I'm no spring chicken- just turned 46. I feel it's time..and it's way over due but the nerves!! Am I too old? Is it too late? How will we survive? I don't want to look up and another 10 yrs has gone by...lol...Can anyone relate? I'm here hoping I could get some advice from someone in the Southeast Michigan area...I'm searching for a LPN program here but there are so many to choose from. Oakland University seems to be the most affordable? Are there any graduates out there? ..

Welcome! Although I've heard that the Rust Belt states have good employment opportunities for nursing, hopefully someone will come along and confirm this.

You are not too old. My Mother did not start school until she was 50. 18 months later she had her license in hand and has not been without a job since. It is not easy, but can be done. Maybe also post in the Michigan forum to ask more about specific schools.
