Have any of you had experience with the concept maps. We start clinicals Friday and have to have a concept map for our patient. My school is no longer teaching the traditional care plans and the instructors are as lost as we are. Is this just our school that is doing this or is other schools teaching concept maps also? Thanks for any help.

let me clarify that a nursing concept map is still a care plan. it is a care plan in a concept map style. to do these, you still need to go through the steps of the nursing process in order to get all the information to perform the critical thinking that is required. there is a sticky thread on the nursing student assistance forum that has information and some really good weblinks on concept maps including links to examples of student care maps. there is actually a book that was written by an instructor on how to do a nursing concept map. i have a copy of it.
I have the book also and have been reading it since my post. I understand now that the concept map is a care plan. The way my instructors were explaining it made it sound allot harder than the book. Our clinical instructor made it sound like it was something totally different than it is. But then again our instructors argue with the book all the time. So I would not be surprised if I did it by the book and went to clinicals and she told me it was wrong. Thanks for the link.

I need some help with a client concept map I have done a few on powerpoint, however for this clinical experience they want us to put it on a poster board. Can anyone help me find a way to set it up?
I do not know if this will help, but this is what our blank concept maps look like.
