Lol! After I learned that people with yeast/wheat allergies could be impacted by receiving blood from donors who consumed those things prior to donating, I wonder about the people getting my blood, especially when I was donating while essentially drenching my insides with caffeine last quarter. They must have felt something extra!

I learned something new today, thanks!
It's weird to think about all the stuff that could be hanging out in those blood bags...

I had this 90 some year old lady who surprised me during the morning med pass by asking to take her pills with butter. I explained to her I could find her applesauce or crush her meds for her, but she insisted on only taking meds with butter. After double checked her diet order, I got her the butter and she took her time coating her pills one at a time into a butter ball then poked it way back into her throat with one finger and swallowed it with satisfaction. During that whole time watching her, I could only think of feeding my dog meds coated with cream cheese just liked her butter balls. Later on, I was hanging PRBC on the same patient, after watching us two nurses checking blood type and MAR number, she looked at the blood bag then looked at me in the eye, "is that decaf? My doctor said I can only have decaf!"
