Can't seem to find my niche in nursing.

To start off I have been a nurse for a little over a year. I have done long-term care for almost 10 months, and currently I am working in an addictive disease clinic and have been there since October.  (almost 3 months) I also did some time in an acute care hospital for about 3 months but night shift wasn't working out. What I am asking is how do you find your place? My husband is getting tired of me switching (insurance purposes) and doesn't understand why its so hard to stay in certain places.

You don't really identify what it is about your previous experiences (other than night shift) that made you leave, so it's hard to give you any specific feedback. You haven't really been in any one place long enough to get yourself to a place of proficiency so you can really get a feel for the jobs. Long term care takes a while to get the hang of, especially with the large patient assignments. I don't know anything about the addictive disease clinic, but if you liked the hospital you might just have to suck it up on night shift to get a position you want. You don't have a lot of experience in any one area, so you options might be limited until you stick it out somewhere and build your resume. Good luck!

Abstractly speaking, "You have to kiss a lot of Warhols before you find your Rembrandt".

I'm also interested in "addictive disease clinic". Is that what's really called?

I've heard only of "chemical disease treatment".

Oh man, I love Warhol and all that pop art, modernism movement in art (Lichtenstein, Haring, etc) more than I do the realism and baroque style of Rembrandt, LOL.  But if we were to speak metaphorically then yes, as a novice, OP must work through the simplicity and mundane-ness of everyday pop art before transitioning into the world of the masters with it's intricacy and power.
