Hi everyone! A while back I remembered seeing a post about, I believe, something similar to the reserves or the government. It was a division where it's easier to go enlisted to officer and switch from it to, for example, the Navy Reserves. I have tried to go through the threads I would have done a search for it but since I can't remember the name, it doesn't help much!
I appreciate any help! Thanks and have a great weekend!

The army has a program that enables qualified enlisted (and non-nurse officers) to apply to gain a nursing education, while being active duty, and then serving as a nurse corp officer.
I'd continuing browsing this forum -
please let me know when you have some more details of what your goal is - based on your situation - as there are many different programs/options/routes that I can't tell from your description.
Are you a nurse already? Aspiring? Type of degree adn or bsn? Is your goal to be in the military? particular branch? active or reserves?
What is your end state goal and current situation - and we can go from there

I had looked into going ahead and joining the reserves but since I'm still working on my ASN/BSN, I still have a few years before I graduate (still trying to get into core nursing school - been taking pre-reqs for over a year). I had heard it is very hard to go from enlisted to officer (my goal is probably Navy Reserves Officer or go Full-Time) and someone had posted about something that was similar but wasn't as hard to transition.
I hadn't heard about that Army program, I have spoken with 2 Navy Reserves people and they really weren't interested until I get close to graduating nursing school. They were helpful with school info though.
In reality, to me, branch doesn't matter. I've lived on bases before and loved the Naval base the best and that's part of the reason I was leaning towards the Navy.
Hope that my rambling makes somewhat sense and thanks!
redshott,
If your goal is to become a nurse and to serve in that capacity in the military full time - here is my 2 cents.
Continue towards your BSN - take out loans and live frugally.
Do not enlist at this time.
The Navy and Army both have programs for you to initiate and enter a contract your junior year (3rd year in BSN program) and you will have a monthly stipend and a small bonus to augment your school expenses... upon graduation you then own a period of about 5 years - but the good news is that you will be serving in our military.

Since you mention the navy here is their program info for nursing candidate..
At this time I would continue to familiarize yourself with requirements to enter the service, ie physical, general composition of packet, timeline etc... and just generally lurk around the board. As time passes you will be up to date with the future 'current' opportunities as they might change 2 years from now.... you can then decide to enter as a junior/senior or make a contract closer to graduation which might offer loan repayment - as long as you stay abreast of the available options, do well in school, and can survive financially through that point - your only goal should be to aquire BSN.
Once again - enlisting at this point is not a direct or sure route in obtaining your commission or BSN.
