Can't get a job in chicago

U.S.A. Illinois

It is getting real frustrating being in Chicago. I moved out here recently from Frisco,Tx. I have applied to all the major hospitals but nobody seems to be calling me back. The only interview i've had is with a small community hospital and for what they are offering money wise it is laughable considering the standards of living in Chicago. Could anyone PLEASE advise me on what to do next, I am getting to my wits end here.

I'm in the same boat as the other new grad nurses, most Chicago hospitals are laying off & have hiring freezes. I work in a NW suburb hospital which is understaffed right now, but we are on a hiring freeze ... they can't even offer new positions to their own techs that are now nurses ...

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Central IL is still hiring - consider Champaign/Urbana, Decatur, Bloomington, Peoria.

Specializes in ICU.

Has anyone looked into nursing homes in Chicago? Are they hiring right now? I know that is different than working in a hospital, but it would give the new grad some experience.
