Cancer clinic nursing job - no oncology experience?

I interviewed for what I THOUGHT was an inpatient RN job at a large cancer hospital today. . .turns out it was for a clinic RN job at the same hospital (the HR dept actually messed up and sent me to the wrong manager). I had a great interview and the manager said I would have a HUGE learning curve. . .but seemed willing to try me out. I told her I would have to think about it as clinic nursing wasn't even in my thoughts. . .but the more I think about it the more interesting it starts to sound to me.

My question is. . .am I setting myself up for failure by taking a job as a FLOAT cancer clinic nurse without a lick of onocology experience? (I have 4 years medsurg/neuro exp) I would be expected to float to one of multiple clinics within the hospital (GI tumor, breast, hematology, etc)

I would like to add that the manager said they would give me lots of training. . .it's not like they would just throw me out there. . .

It will be a lot to learn, but if you're up for the challenge, I say go for it! The ONS has great resources on their website and the oncology forum under specialties on AllNurses is also a great place to meet folks and get advice. Best of luck!
