Canceling contract

Quick question! Has anyone ever decided to cancel a contract before it even begins? I signed on with a new company(current company doesn't work with my current job anymore) but now I feel like my contract pays too low. I have other companies offering me better deals. What do you guys think?

Why did you accept it?

I was kind of rushed into the whole switching companies. Alot of numbers were thrown at me. When I finally sat down and looked at what I would be making, it was extremely low. The new contract starts in a little over a month. I'm hoping everything turns out ok. I just want fair pay.

I think once you have signed its done, except they are willing to renegiotate (which i doubt) you are stuck. You don't want to burn bridges early on.

Are you saying that you are extending at the same hospital for a different agency?

Yes! The hospital doesn't want to work with my original company and are not extending any traveller with them. Love the hospital and the location so had to get a contract ASAP!

You might try talking to HR or staffing and seeing what you can do. This is an unusual situation. Your extension is a month away and the new agency has no expenses for you. Obviously, you should have been more careful. It is possible the agency you might prefer to work with could advise you about how to proceed. At some point, you could also try negotiating with your extension agency. Ask them to match the other agency or you will just move on to a different assignment with a different agency.
