Hi Joana,

This is very sad news for me as I just got my package from the Georgia nursing board and about to purchase my Nclex-PN exam prep ebook....and hearing this is a little disappointing and will delay my move to Georgia or FL, my two favourite state to live. I wonder why they would require univeristy grades...what was your

Thank you with kind regards.

Well they want me to take 3 RNclinical courses even though they are not a requirement for any GA LPN program. Pediatric, maternity and mental health clinical. There is no way I will be able to take them . I graduated 2years of college and I have 90 college credits but still not enough. I’m very discouraged

What package did you get from the GA board??

Thanks for your reply.

Thats very odd they are requesting that....I finished nursing school since 2005, and I remember doing clinicals in Mental Health, Neonatal and Maternity....so very confused. I will contact the state board to clarify before applying.

The package is the appication....I think I will be appling by equivalency, I dont think its by endorsement, but will double check.

I am also looking into maybe finding a live-in job or private care nursing somewherr in Georgia hopefully that my expedite my registration....or maybe find me an american to marry...lol!

Thank for the info.

I graduated in 2012 in Alberta and I worked full scope. I have more education than needed but I do believe my education assessment was not evaluated correctly. You need to have your education evaluated and that’s where is tricky. I have applied for a a second assessment and now I’m waiting.

Well thats so unfair....I do hope the best for you. Nursing is very challenging and can get complicated when they try to separate amd compare our education between RN and RPN/LPN, and at the end of the day its the same damn education. It just frustrates me when RPN/LPN's are treated like we are not educated and treat like we only have a high school diploma...smh! I did my nursing in Toronto. Did the state of Florida request the same though? I am really looking for a change of environment and new learning skills, however I feel so surpressed here in Canada....they dont show RPNs the respect we deserve.

Chat soon...

There was a post here at AllNurses several years ago titled "Canadian RN to the states". A certain nurse stated that you must become a resident of a compact state in order to get the privilege of compact status. Otherwise, you might have to ' jump through hoops ' (take classes & tests) to work , even though you're licenced elsewhere. I wish I had good news for you but I don't. The BON has very specific rules and regulations.

You are right . But in my case I’m a resident of Georgia and I have a green card.

Yes I agree that you would make sense, priority would go a resident. Thank you kindly for the heads up Floor_Nurse

Which of the transcript evaluation services did you us? I am an alberta trained LPN as well and currently waiting to back from them ( GA) A classmate who just move to Chicago was assessed as ADN equivalent.

I only have the option to use CGFNS. They basically said that I’m missing 3 RN clinical courses and the GA board didn’t look any further. Do you know how your classmate was able to assessed as ADN?

I My classmate wouldn’t give more information she just said she was assessed as ADN, I tried asking for details but nothing. Which school did you attend? I went to Bow valley college. I might just look school that will accept my courses and give me some credit
