I am a Canadian looking to attend school at eastern center for arts and technology in PA. I am looking to marry my fiancé shortly after completing the LPN course. What steps must I take legally in order to start work as an LPN, and approximately how long is the grace period until I can start working?

thanks!

LPN doesn't qualify for work or TN visa. Not all PN programs can accept international students. And as an international student the tuition can be 3x (or more) that of a local student. Something to consider when making your decision & budgeting. Honestly I'm not positive if a Canadian needs an F1 to attend school or if there are provisions under the NAFTA treaty (that created the TN visa). If this is an F1 visa program you need to prove you have sufficient funds (or support) for tuition , fees, living expenses, health insurance, and incidentals up front as a visa condition.

US LPN programs are 10-15 months full time, significantly less time than LPN programs in Canada. So you would likely not be eligible for LPN/RPN licensing if you returned to Canada.

Getting work rights via marriage is not simple and subject to high scrutiny. (My cousin had many hoops to jump through for his Canadian now wife to obtain legal status). Be certain to review the regulations. & requirements so that you know what is required in advance. Forewarned is forearmed. But at least with a fiancée visa/spouse sponsorship your career/education isn't highly considered as it is for a work visa. Consider consulting with an immigration attorney for professional expertise.

Good luck researching in advance is a good start. .

Disregard the work question for now. On what immigration status do you plan to attend school in PA?
