Hi! I'm thinking about becoming a WHNP. I was wondering if they can work in the hospital or if they can do 12 hour shifts anywhere? I really don't want a job with a M-F 9-5 schedule and wasn't sure if there was another option for WHNP. Thanks!

Yes. Duke has clinical rotations in mother baby for postpartum care and with general gyn patients. Not sure if the schedule is 12s, 10s, or 8s, but it is possible. There are also rotations that you could possibly do with the VA hospital.

Yes, I've seen WHNPs working in postpartum as well as with the MFM service. Definitely not as common as traditional office jobs though.
