Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Home you have to be assessed by the national board.
Also depends, are you really a USRN? or are you an international nurse with US registration? Did you do your nursing education in America?
If you are from the Phillipines, India, part of Africa, Nepal etc you will need to do bridging course of some sort. You will also need english test to go with application.
But get assessed by AHPRA first.

Hi!
I'm from the Philippines. Is there any way I can apply for a nurse position without undergoing the bridging program?
And if I passed the assessment of APHRA, will I still undergo the bridging program?

From what I have seen unless you have a few years work experience in the US then bridging program will be required

Why do so many phillipine nurses get jobs in USA but its so hard to get a job as an Aus RN?
If you get Registration in Australia, you will be a Filipino nurse with Australian nurses registration, not an Australian nurse, same as you are not an United States Registered nurse, but a Filipino nurse with a United States nurses Registration.
People reading your post are confused, you are insinuating that Australian nurses cannot get jobs in the US but nurses from the Phillipines are, which we all know is not the truth.
Nurses from the Phillipines are not getting jobs in the US and in some states are now not getting the chance to sit NCLEX due to practise not being done with theory in nursing education and therefore not being considered for Registration.
Why is it becoming increasingly difficult for nurses from overseas to get permanent work:
Employers that were sponsoring long term business visas in Australia find that they do not longer always need a nurse from overseas for their jobs and are finding that when they advertise correctly for local nurses, local nurses are applying for their positions.
Same as happened in the UK and the USA and Canada and is starting to happen here.
In the future 10-20 years yes, there maybe nursing positions again available - for sure, but at this present time things are 'tight' governments are not spending money on health as they did and countries that educate nurses for imports, have not cut down on the supply.
Therefore over supply has outstripped need, forefold. More nurses competing for overseas jobs that are available and have flooded the markets.
