i need a bsn as soon as possible i guess, in order to get a master's in nursing to be a NP. thus, whats the shrotest way/school to obtain this conversion to a bsn?

No, you can't convert a nonscience degree to a BSN degree online....you would have to go back to school about 5 more semesters to get a BSN degree or a ADN degree...but you would first need to complete all your science preq (anatomy, microbiology, physiology, chemistry, etc.) before you can even enroll in a University's nursing program OR you can try to find an accelerated BSN program which is usually like 12 months after you complete your preq!!! BSN online degrees are for nurses who already have their RN license from a community college. Good Luck with your plans!!!

There are programs that will accept a non-BSN, but a BA graduate into their program for the MSN. It will involve making up the other hours and a very intense program. You essentially will first ge tall of the credits done that will give you the requirements needed to sit for the NCLEX-RN, then getting work experience while you complete the rest of the hours for the MSN part.

What area do you wish to get your MSN in? How do you know that you will even like nursing well enough to get a Master's in it, if you haven't even taken one nursing class?

You are in a hurry to become a nurse practitioner but you haven't even worked as a nurse yet? There are some programs out there, but you will have quite a bit of trouble finding an employer to hire you afterwards. You need experience under your belt to be a successful NP. No shortcuts around that fact. Sorry................ :o

Another silly question came to me................If you have no experience as a nurse, how are you going to do clinicals, if you want a completely on-line program? Programs exist if you already hold an LPN or RN from a ADN progra, where clinical time and hours have been completed, plus work experience.....

I know for a fact you can obtain your ASN through Deaconess College of Nursing online...clinical experience is done at a hospital local to you with a preceptor. Deaconess also has an online RN to BSN, but there are alot of those online so your options will be more expanded once you have your RN.

The DCN ASN program is a six semester (2 year) program and you do not necessarily have to have all your prereqs complete in order to apply, but of course the more you have done the better your application for admission will look.

As far as RN to BSN online...like I said there are many options out there and most programs are 3-4 semesters. The benefit to doing your school online is that you can work and go to school and therefore will be gaining nursing experience along the way...

Hello there,

I have read the other comments, (and took them as practical, not negative) and would like to share too.

It may be mis-wording your question but, converting your BA into a BSN is not the 'literal' way it happens. You may however use your current BA as part of a requirement for the direct entry or graduate entry MSN programs.

Those do also have other pre-requisites and the first four semesters or so are the pre- NCLEX portion, (basically).

Your posts seems a little rushed, again maybe just the wording but, 'need the fastest way...'?

p.s. I heard recently that one of the biggest mistakes that anyone can make regarding their school experience is to RUSH it and not use it fully, this of course is not the same as utilizing time wisely but, rushing :) good luck

where do you live I live in Toledo, Ohio and there is a program at the Medical University of Ohio, Toledo. This program is for individuals that have an associate degree in nursing and want to get a bachelors in nursing. This program is all over the internet. Mike from Toledo

The OP doesn't have any type of nursing degree at the moment, that is the problem that they are trying to solve...............
