I've searched EVERYWHERE and can't seem to answer this question. Can SFNP be used? And if so, when? I'm about to start clinicals and it makes sense to me that signing SFNP or RN-SFNP is appropriate. But there is literally no reference that I can find to support doing that.

You could use those abbreviations in your E&M documentation (H&P, progress notes, etc) in the clinical setting during your rotations. But you should check with your school and the institution you are spending your clinicals at to see if they have a uniform policy on what credentials NP students should use.
I was an NP student at an area hospital and an ED where we were asked to sign as: First Last, NP student
At the VA where I did ICU rotations at we signed more specifically as:
First Last, RN
XX University ACNP Student
Outside of student clinical rotations, I don't see a need to use those credentials.

I could never find anything about that either. And my school didn't give us any guidelines. I just sign my notes, CRNP student, PNP student, or NP student.

I agree with Juan. You should ask your school and each institution you go to. Some of the sites wanted us to sign as RNs with our license#
