Can you run meds through an IV site in the same extremity as PPN/lipids are running?

Example: pt has peripheral parenteral nutrition running through left AC and a saline lock to forearm, wrist, or hand. IV meds cannot be given with the PN, but can they be given through the saline lock? Or will it just meet the PN further up? Is a new IV site required on the opposite side?

You can give the meds through the existing saline lock.

As long as your facility's policy says you can.
