Can you be a parish nurse and not be member of that faith community?

I work for a Jewish hospital system. I recently found out they have programs that is community and faith based?, now I was wondering if I can apply for a position as faith community nurse but I'm not necessarily jewish or plan on becoming one soon. Is that possible?

I have heard of cross culturing the community Parish Nursing. I am sure, the company would be happy to answer those questions too.

Let us know how you make out.

Hello aruray,

Yes you can apply for the position. You don't have to be of the same faith, although it would be easier. You can still provide all the services of a Parish Nurse / Faith Community Nurse. In the hospital-based Parish Nurse program I am with, some of the Parish Nurses are working with churches that they aren't members of. So it is possible. You need to find out what their requirements are.

I would like to also add:

It sounds really exciting to learn another culture and faith. I envy the opportunity you may have before you. ;)

Do let us know how you make out.
