Med Techs- can they administer medications non narc/narc without a RN present?

Present as in watching the administration or in the building? Someone has to have a license in the building I believe or at least oncall and readily available.

Depends on the state. med techs where I live don't have to have a nurse present, but attend a training course and nurses audits mar and make spot checks. Narcotics are only allowed in very specific amounts.

The ALFs I've worked for kept one nurse around to dispence narcotics and check MARS.

But I know HHMAs don't do that, they just give the medication.
