I'm an international student in Toronto, originally from China. I want to study nursing program here, but I don't know if there is some requirement for this program, such as native identification. Hope to know some colleges, which have good reputation, especially on nursing program. Thanks for helping!

Your best bet would be to check out the websites of some of the schools you are applying to and calling the admission offices of the schools. They should be able to tell you about their requirements for international applicants. Some schools are Toronto, McMaster, York, Humber that you can look into.

I'm at Humber, and we have quite a few international students. Ask the collages what their requirements are. Some schools have pre-health programs to do if your previous courses aren't accepted for requirements. I did the General Arts and Science (pre- health) at Humber and it is a great program

From what I understand an international student can pursue a nursing program but the issue comes when registering to write the licensing exam and getting a temporary licence. I don't remember but I remember classmates who were visiting from other countries I think may have had to apply for landed immigrant status or something. Another issue is the police clearance check that is required for clinical practicums.

As a International student the fees are generally higher than if a resident. Working as a student will depend on meeting requirements so check out the CIC website for working whilst on a student visa as I believe you still have to apply for a work permit on top of student permit. Once finished you can stay and work on a Post-Graduation Work Permit Program and from there there are options to stay as a permanent resident
