Can I work at two different jobs at the same time?

I hope this is the right place to ask this question, I am sorry if it isn't!

I am an RN student (just finished my first year of a two year program). Since I have finished Med Surg I am qualified for Nurse Tech positions in my state, however because the economy is so bad in Michigan, it has been difficult searching for jobs! A handful of my classmates have become Nurse Techs recently, but the only job I was able to get was Nursing Assistant (at a GREAT health system that does not have techs, just assistants and sometimes externs who only get 8 hours a week). I have not started this job yet but I am already getting discouraged because all of my classmates are doing so much as techs (and making ALOT more than I am..if you aren't familiar, nurse techs in my state can do a lot of procedures that we do in school involving catheters, NG tubes, dressings, etc.). My question is, can I potentially get a tech position at another hospital (all of which are contingent) and still keep my current position or would that be a total conflict of interest? I know a lot of RNs work at different hospitals on a contingent basis so would this also be okay for me to do even if the job description is different? I would hate to quit the nursing assistant job because it is at a great hospital, but I would really like the experience and pay that Nurse Techs make. Does that make sense?? I really don't know what to do and I am not the type to back out on a job that I have accepted, I would like to remain in good standing at this hospital for when I graduate!

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Sure, you can do that -- as long as you can meet the minimum requirements/expectations (schedule-wise, I mean) of both jobs and keep track of your schedule! :) (And keep up with your studies ...) It's neither employer's business what you do in the rest of your time.
