I am an ADN want to obtain my BSN if I joined the reserves would I be able to continue my employment? I work telemetry 3 days a week and would like to retain my position. Does accepting STRAP funding require quitting my job? Thank you

How long of an obligation would be owed can this be done AD or must all of it be RD? Can you transfer to AD before the total time is served RD? What is the benefit to drilling while in school does this count toward years of service?

The pay back is reserve duty which I believe is 1 year for every 6 months you recieve in STRAP.

Also know that you are to maintain at least 1/2 time at your schoolfor all/consecutive semesters including summer unless your school does not offer summer courses (whatever your school/program considers half-time) ...not sure if your STIPEND gets held for those months. Hopefully your 1 night a week will be considered at least 1/2 time, or you may need to enroll in another course for credits.

My school is an online program at Univ. of Wyoming (very inexpensive - no waiting list) and it's 6 hrs PT during Fall/Spring (or 9 FT) and 6 hrs FT during summer in a 8 wk period. I am currently finishing 10 hrs this summer because I didn't get the 'memo' - clearly. Now that I have an option to be PT or FT, I may spread my classes out more over the 24 months just to make it a more relaxing school year.

Hello SAHM2,

I plan to attend my university for 3 semesters (instead of the 2 that it would normally take to complete this particular RN-BSN program), because I will be able to use more months of STRAP stipend that way (12 months versus 8). It would make for a difference of $7,968 using the new rate of $1,992/month if I choose this route.

Since I have to serve 2 years for every 1 year of aid I receive, it makes more sense to take full advantage of the chance to use 12 months of stipends versus 8.

I have read in Army Regulation 135-7: Army National Guard and Army Reserve Incentive Programs page 55 of 114, 11-4 Eligibility (4) AN officers pursuing baccalaureate or master’s degree programs must continuously earn at least 50 percent of the credit hours required for full–time student status at their educational institution.

My recruiter told me I have to be enrolled for 12 credits or more.

Am I misled or is he?

Thanks for the reply in advance.
