Can I take one class a diffrent college?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone. Well, I am attending a local community college at the moment completing my prerequisites for the RN program. My CC has a very good nursing program however, my ideal Nursing program is Maurine Church Coburn School of nursing in Monterey Peninsula College. However, that nursing program requires a pharmacology class as a pre-requisite. Their college is the only college that offers this course to my surprise. My question is, can I take that class without having to pursue a degree in that college?i Also, will I be able to take that class while taking classes in my local college. I am aware that it will not be covered by my Financial aid. I wouldn't mind paying out of pocket.

When I was in pre-nursing, I took a couple classes as a transient student at a local CC because the times were more convenient. I just had to check with the college of nursing that I was ultimately planning on attending and get written approval before enrolling to ensure they would transfer. You can definitely attend 2 colleges at once though :) Good luck!

I attended two colleges to complete prereqs because the university I was attending at the time didn't have all of the needed classes. You'll need to apply to the college (as a non degree seeking applicant), speak with an advisor, and should be able to enroll in the class.

A call to the school where you want to attend nursing school to ensure they will accept the credits from whatever school you are talking about would give you the definite answer.

Thank you all for your replies! I am definitely calling Monday!
