Published

hi,

i'm from the phlippines. i'm a newly graduate of nursing and would like to know if i can take the nclex without taking the philippine board? this is my 2nd degree and the reason why i took up nursing is because i would like to work in the u.s. can somebody please enlighten me with this issue? has anyone took the nclex without taking the philppines board? thanks.

Yes, you do not need the local exam. US government only requires a completed set of transcripts that meet the educational requirements of the US for any foreign trained nurse. A foreign license is not a mandatory requirement.

I read the requirements of California BON and it says there that if you do not hold any license, a written explanation is required. What specifically is the best reason should I include in my written explanation. thanks.

Whike it is true that you do not need toi take the Philippines RN exam to take NCLEX, you MUST be a licensed RN in the Philippines to immigrate to the US.

In order to be a licensed RN in the Philippines, you must take the exam there. CGFNS requires that you have a license in your home country, if you are going to take the CGFNS exam, but US immigration requires that you just pass either the CGFNS exam or the NCLEX exam. Neither which give you a license in the Philippines.
