Hello everyone,

I Just graduated from a LPN program in Nebraska. Very soon we are moving from Nebraska to Dallas. My question is can I take my LPN board exam (Nclex) in Dallas?

Happy Holiday to all!!

It depends on your school, at my school I could take it in any state that I want, so you have to ask your school if they say yes that's mean you could take it anywhere you want. good luck:)

I think your best bet would be to take the exam in the state you graduated in, and then apply for an "endorsement" with the state that you are moving to..

My friend just took her NCLEX last month in another state. We graduated from an LVN program here in California, then she moved to Texas. She ended up taking her test at a Pearson-Vue in Waco. BUT, her results were sent to the California Board. She then plans on applying for endorsement.

Do you want your results sent to the Texas Board or Nebraska Board? Like Nerilene said, check with your school. I don't think it's a matter of where you take it, but where the results will be sent.

NCLEX can be taken anywhere in the world where it is offered. You can take it in Dallas, Omaha, Hong Kong, or wherever a testing center is available.

I was in a similar situation back in 2005 when I moved from California to Texas. I completed an LVN program in California, moved to Texas soon after graduation, and took my NCLEX in Texas. However, I chose to have my results sent to California. I received a California LVN license and endorsed it into Texas.

You have two choices on getting a Texas license. You can either apply for initial licensure by examination in Texas, or you can get a Nebraska license and apply for licensure by endorsement in Texas.
