I am a third year nursing student here in the Philippines and there will be a mandatory medical exam in a month. I am Hepa B (reactive) positive and I am very worried that they will kick me out or ban me from studying cause what I heard, students with Hepa B(reactive) are not allowed to Duty in hospitals. please enlighten me. thank you so much.

If you recieve a positive PPD, you will have to get a chest xray. If the xray comes back clear, then you will be allowed to practise. You are positive to being exposed to TB. As long it isn't active TB, you are not contagious. You'd be surprised to see how many nurses and Drs. are affected with Latent TB. Good Luck and God Bless!

I'm sorry. For some reason, I thought you were talking about a positive PPD, not Hep B. I need to go to to sleep.

you might not be allowed to directly work with patients in a patient care setting, but could be allowed to provide nursing care as a diabetic educator, or maybe nursing education....I know of several nurses who were diagnosed with hepB and work in nursing education....they give seminars, provide nursing professionals with educational support, computer skills, teaching nurses what they know.....etc.....so there are avenues for you....good luck with your pursuits....
