Can I still get the job?

I am a Nursing Student and I had an interview scheduled last week (for a tech position) - I had a true emergency in the middle of the night. Well I called to reschedule and they let me. This is completely out of my character - will they still consider me or did I ruin it with a bad first impression? :o

I think you still have a chance! If it were me I think I'd apologize and briefly explain the nature of the emergency, so they have a way to understand why you had to reschedule. And even tell them that it is out of character for you! You're still trying to sell yourself :) Everyone has emergencies, don't worry, I'm sure they can find it in them to understand that if you just let them know what's the what!

Yeah, I think you definitely still have a good chance. I showed up on the wrong day for one of my interviews for an RN position and still got offered the job.

If they won't let you work there because of that, it probably isn't the kind of place where you would want to work, if that is their attitude.

Will they still consider you? Most likely... Companies generally don't waste their time interviewing candidates who have not chance. It's simply too expensive and a waste of their time.

That said, your chances are probably reduced somewhat if only because some others have probably been interviewed in the meantime and the company's had a chance to form a positive impression.

Yeah, chances are good that you'll still have as much consideration for the job as you did before you had to reschedule. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered rescheduling you. Don't fret. When you go in for your interview, I'd address the reason for the need to reschedule right off the bat. That will at least impress upon them that YOU recognize that it's not customary behavior and they are more likely to assume that it's out of character for you. Let's face it...stuff happens and chances are, it's happened to them to. If not, I'd like to borrow their life for awhile. LOL.

The first time I met my current nurse manager I was assigned to interview her for a nursing school project. I was so excited because I already knew it was the unit where I wanted to work. This was my chance to make a great impression! Long story short I had some gallbladder issues which combined with my nerves resulted in me breaking out in a cold sweat and running from the office to throw up. I had to leave and was so worried she would think I was some sickly, irresponsible person. She was very nice about the whole situation and later she actually hired me. I still think about it everytime I use that restroom outside her office lol. Seriously though most people are understanding about life. A very brief explanation and an apology should be all that is needed. Good luck!
