Can I be a nurse if I'm not a morning person?

SO..I understand there are evening/night shifts that are available....but personally I'd rather work a day shift because it's more "convenient" I guess...the only thing is that I am horrible at waking up early. And say I have a 7am-7pm shift, I'd have to wake up super early. Like before 6. I'm the type of person who needs 8+ hours of sleep in order to function or else I am a moody, grouchy zombie. Basically...are there any of you who suffer from morning zombie syndrome as well but are still successful nurses? How do you deal with it? I am thinking my only option will be to simply go to sleep earlier.

I'm not a morning person and I used to work evening shifts prior to getting the job I have now. It's a sweet job and I love it but I have to wake up and leave my house at a most un-godly hour of the morning/night to get to work on time.

As a new grad RN the the alternative was continued un-ending misery at the job with the hours I liked (for less money, more stress, and I was working as an LPN) or un-employment. So shazam! Now I'm a morning person.

Unless you work in one of the few areas that still has a demand for nurses and is actucally willing to hire and train new grads....you're gonna have to become a whatever time of day person you need to be to get hired.

Coffee is my friend. Two cups back to back shortly after I start my shift every single day.
