Hi Suzanne and all of you,
I am happy to join this this forum again, after a stressful move from TX to CA.
Thanks for always taking your time to answer our questions.
I was following about 2 hours another thread, with very good and important
tips for the foreign nurses. I was hoping to find an answer at my question.
I am stil waiting for the processing of my aplication for the NCLEX since April.
Because the waiting time in my case is so long in CA, and because i need to pay my rent I am looking for a job. I would like to work in the nursing field here in Sacramento area. Do you know, is it posible to work in a hospital as a nurse asistant, or nurse aid, or anything like this...I have a SSN, and I am a RN in Germany. Should I call a hospital to ask about, or it's better to look for an agency. I would work also in a nursing facility(home).
Since I am alone right now here and just moved here, do not know anybody to looking for an advice.
I would appreciate a lot every idea.
Thanks a lot ! :)

In order to work in US you have to have work permission/practical training. If you don't have or not eligible for either of those, there is no way you can work.
[i forget to mention, I have a green card too, and 12 years work experience in different areas as a RN in Germany (practical work). I don't know if I could do something with what I have. My question is if somebody knows about, how could I get a job in the medical field, doctor office, nursing home, etc until I can take my licence. For example, in the country where I have graduated, a foreign nurse can work as a nurse aid under the superveising of a RN until she will pass her test.
I would be happy when somebody will be giving me a direction. :chair:

As long as you have the green card, and are able to work legally, then there is no problem with you getting a job in a physician's office, or as a nursing asst. The license in Germany doesn't count here, so it would have to be something unlicensed...............
[That's sounds good. Somebody told me they need here for everything a licence, even when you work in a Phisician's office. I wanted to work in a hospital in a country town in TX as an unlicensed, and they told me they have just licensed personal in the hospital. They have adviced me to take the LVN exam until I will be have taken the NCLEX. I am focusing on the NCLEX now, and I will try to get a job as an unlicensed. This will be beneficial for me too,.
Forget about going the way of the LVN exam, you would have to apply to the Board of Nursing here, then even after you take the exam, it would take another month or so, before you had your LVN. They do things differently in CA for initial licensure for LVNs.
You are using the wrong word, do not mention working as an "unlicensed"---that is something that they would not hire you for, but as a "nursing assistant". Using the wrong word, will only get you the wrong answer that you are looking for.
[Thank you very much for your advice : i have noticed "looking for nursing assistant position " and not for unlicenced.
You won't seen the word "unlicensed" in any postings of positions. You should have no problems in finding a nursing assisitant position, or something similar.
Please let me know how things work out for you.
[Thank you again.
