Hi, I am a UK RGN planning on doing the NCLEX in the next few months but am skeptical about all these different organisations like O'Grady Peyton offerering study packages and teaching sessions for hundreds of pounds. I am extremely motivated and a good independent learner, I don't think I am dependent upon a classroom setting to learn interactively. Has anyone out there studied for it independently and passed? I am studying from Kaplan (book/dvd) but intend to buy a couple more books (Saunders etc). Isn't that enough? I am getting pretty good marks from the test exams. What I really feel like I need help with is all the paperwork for actually applying to the State Board of Nursing in the U.S, and Pearson Vue. It is soooo complicated and long-winded with so much scope for error, I'm terrified of filling them in wrong or missing some crucial document out, does anyone know if there's any way I can pay for step-by-step guidance with all the forms/applications etc without also having to buy one of the expensive study packages? Or maybe it's possible to do that independently too....? Thanks

Questions regarding the NCLEX exam should be answered in this forum as many people have studied for or are studying for the exam. Anything regarding becoming licensed in the US needs to be placed in the International forum as there are some things different when foreign trained.
I took the exam 3 times and tried several books but preferred Saunders and passed. You can easily study on your own without the need of a review program or agency. Just set a good study time table and practice questions and remember to think as a new grad and not someone with experience
