Is it bad for my career to work for a nursing home that has been shut down by the state? Even if i follow everything that i have been taught in school? The facility i work in is not in compliance with state and im looking for another job. I am a new nurse and really could use the advice. I typically have 40 patients and treatments a well as having to babysit the aids that work there. I have no admin backing and the aides think because i am a new nurse that i am a joke and dont listen to me at all with our scheduling coordinators encouragement. She also has hiring and firing authority. I am not allowed overtime and clock out to chart or face he wrath. Which includes screaming at me in front of everyone. She is fully backed by our don and adon. What should i do? Is this normal?

Seems like you are in a tough spot, seems like you care about your residents and their safety. But I think you can do more for them and yourself if you resign, and get the proper authorities involved immediately!!!

Can Anyone offer me some tips on how to manage time better

Jess, sweetie, your time management is NOT the problem here. You have been put in a very, very bad situation that you cannot reasonably be expected to succeed at. When you go to a new job, with a preceptor and reasonable expectations you will be shocked at how well you do. Also, this might be a good time to keep a journal and really work on being kind to yourself. As nurses, it is so easy to put everyone else first and not take care of ourselves. That might work in the short term, but in the long term we burn out, our bodies wear out, and we develop unhealthy coping mechanisms (drinking excessively, eating too much, etc). So be gentle on yourself, treat yourself lovingly, and treat yourself to things that make you happy. Being a new grad is stressful enough, let alone what you are going through! You are going to be an awesome nurse, find somewhere that appreciates you!

Sounds like a living nightmare to me. Don't let anyone treat you like that. They are breaking all kinds of laws, and I wouldn't want any part of it if it were me. I'd blow the whistle on them.
