I am a mother of a beautiful 5 month old girl. I am wondering if it would be the same to become a RN with a GED as it would be to a high school graduate. I am wondering if it is equal in pay and is it easiest to go to tech or online to become a RN.

The short answer, yes you can. But you have to go through all the same steps as a high school grad. I would suggest looking into community colleges, it will be a lot of hard work. And although many of the non-nursing classes can be taken online, the core science and nursing classes will require that you go to a campus. It won't be easy, but it can be done.

A community college in the way to go un my opinion and it is a long road but if you have help with childcare then this is a great and less expensive option than some of these fly by nightRN programs that cost a fortune and sometimes are known to shortchange students out of a proper education

Five years ago, I was almost the same exact situation as you. I didn't graduate from high school; I obtained my GED. My youngest daughter was a month old when I started taking online classes at the local community college. I hated the online classes, so the next semester, I signed up for evening classes so I could attend after my husband came home from work. After three years, all of my prerequisites were completed. I had kept up my grades, and was accepted into the most competitive BSN program in the city. Last Tuesday, I graduated from the university. The next day, my daughter started her first day of kindergarten. It was a lot of hard work and I had a good support system, but it can be done. Best of luck to you.

I love your testimony! Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am terrified but hopeful and ready to finish my journey on to becoming a RN. It's always been my dream. I totally agree that it is not easy but I am focused in my studies, my degree and my dream job that I will have someday. Those are the things that keeps me determined to push on :)
