can i become and crna if i am and rn with an associate or must i go back and get a bsn first? i am in a 2 year school going for my rn. im intrested in becomgin an crna in a lil bit but curious if i should go and get my bsn straight through now?

you need a bachelorate degree for every school because this is a master's program. not every school requires a bsn but you will have to look at each school individually.

you need a bachelorate degree ........

Correct, of course. Check the AANA site for specifics, MsDrea, and keep this in mind: Dr John Nagelhout, CRNA, PharmD, Director of the Kaiser CRNA program in LA, well-known national authority and textbook author, started his professional career as an Associate Degree RN.

Go get 'em!

i checked out the website and it says the requirements are a bachelor's degree then at another bullet a registered nurse. im a bit confused, do they mean you have to at least meet one of the requirements or all? im just so upset :crying2: because i've been checking out schools that provide a bachelor's in rn but none will accept the nursing math course of another school and many other credits therefore, it would set me back. all classes i've been taking i feel like it was a waste and now i have to take it over and pay tuition again. dont knowm what i should do...just going through a down phase at the moment.

Take a deep breath, you have options. You must be and RN AND have a bachelors degree to be eligible to apply for CRNA programs. You can continue in your ADN program become a RN and finish the BSN while you are gaining critical care experience. Many colleges and universities have RN to BSN completion programs that are nearly or are completely on-line. It can be done. I too started my nursing career with an Associate of Science in Nursing and obviously went a little further on the educational path! Don't make yourself insane without checking first about options or you will be a lunatic before you know it. Nothing ever goes quite the way you expect- there is a saying "Man plans, God laughs". Good Luck!!!

dont be upset. i was an adn nurse started working took the required prereqs was gaining valuable experience then took an online bsn program. interviewed 1 school and was accepted. take your time, it's important to make the grade whatever choice you make and to also take time to get excellent clinical experience working.
